Billboard Ban Breach

The many residents who wrote and spoke about billboards overwhelmingly opposed them. Only the Chamber of Commerce and the lawyer for the owner of Tito’s Tacos voiced support for moving forward with a Billboard Corridor concept, though the Tito’s representative cautioned that new billboards shouldn’t block existing signs.

Despite the very clear message from residents, the Council voted 4-1 to pursue a study to evaluate whether to install billboards along Centinela and Sepulveda near the 405 freeway.

The item will come back before the Council after staff asks the Carlyle Group, who has proposed this  project, whether they are willing to front all staff costs for the study.
