The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces

The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces

This weekend, my neighbor and my husband organized a home screening of the documentary The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces by William H. Whyte in order to advance our collective thinking about Parcel B. Made in the mid-1970’s, this ground-breaking and entertaining documentary is still seen by all urban planning students to this day. It asks what makes some parks and plazas full of life and others empty and or dangerous, and provides an ingredient list for successful small urban spaces.

See the entire film online here.

Thanks John & Karim!
